FAQs & Forms

Fillers

  • These are injectable products made of hyaluronic acid from different manufacturers. Hyaluronic acid is a molecule that binds water and is normally found in the deeper layers of the skin. These fillers do not contain any animal products. They are unlikely to cause an allergic reaction. Scroll down for more information on a specific manufacturer.

    When will I see results?

Results are generally noted immediately, although mild swelling, bruising, and redness generally can take at least 48 hours to resolve. Makeup may be applied immediately after a treatment.

How long will the results last?

Benefits last about 6 to 12 months, though results vary. (Juvederm Voluma XC lasts up to 2 years). Lip enhancement treatments may resolve more quickly, especially if you are a smoker.

    Do the injections hurt?

The recent introduction of fillers containing lidocaine anesthetic has made the procedure much more comfortable. Numbing cream applied by the patient before the appointment or by us in the office can also improve the experience. There can be discomfort in sensitive areas such as the lips or near the nose.

Are there risks to the procedure?

Transient bruising at injection sites can occur, particularly if you have taken aspirin or ibuprofen within 10 days, or alcohol within 48 hours of treatment. Puffiness, tenderness and/or redness may result for 1-4 days, and rarely longer. Small areas of firmness may be palpable and rarely visible, but blend in with time. Extremely rare side effects include compression/occlusion of blood vessels leading to formation of a scab which can result in a scar or other damage. Other rare side effects include dizziness, headache, rash, visual disturbances, infection, or reactivation of cold sores.

Who should not be treated with Hyaluronic Acid Fillers?

    • You are pregnant or nursing.

    • You have multiple severe allergies or history of anaphylaxis.

    • You are taking a blood thinner such as Coumadin/warfarin or Aspirin.

    • You have a bleeding disorder.

    • You have had a previous allergic or severe swelling reaction with hyaluronic acid fillers.

Botox

  • BOTOX® Cosmetic works beneath the skin’s surface and targets the underlying muscle activity that causes frown lines and crow’s feet.

Dr. Huang will inject these muscles with BOTOX® Cosmetic to temporarily reduce muscle activity. You will begin to notice a visible smoothing of your crow’s feet lines and frown lines between your brows as soon as one week after treatment. The maximal effect occurs in three to four weeks and last for 4 to 6 months.

    When will I see results?

It takes up to 7 days for the frowning, squinting and forehead muscles to relax after the initial injection. Although fine lines often disappear immediately, deeper furrows may take longer to fade away. In older patients or patient with deep wrinkles, lines will be improved but not completely eradicated.

How long will the results last?

Benefits initially last about 3 to 4 months. With continued treatments, the duration of muscle relaxation generally becomes longer. Some patients can eventually wait 6 months or longer between treatments.

Are there risks to the procedure?

Transient bruising at the injection sites can occur, particularly if you have taken aspirin or ibuprofen within 1 week, or alcohol within 48 hours of treatment. Occasional brief tenderness or headache may result for a few hours, and rarely longer. Mild, temporary eyelid or eyebrow drooping can last 2-3 weeks or longer and may occur in about 1% of patients. Extremely rare side effects include temporary double vision, reduced blinking resulting in corneal injury, allergy and development of antibodies which may decrease the duration of results for future Botox treatments. Although Botox contains purified human albumin, there have been no reported cases of viral disease transmission.

Who should not be treated with Botox?

You may not be treated with Botox if:

    • You are pregnant or nursing.

    • You are allergic to benzoyl alcohol.

    • You have neuromuscular disease (such as myasthenia gravis).

    • You are taking aminoglycoside medications such as Streptomycin, Neomycin, or Gentamycin.

Hydrafacials

  • What is a HydraFacial treatment?

HydraFacial creates an instantly gratifying glow in just 3 steps:

    1. CLEANSE + PEEL. Uncover a new layer of skin with gentle exfoliation and relaxing resurfacing.

    2. EXTRACT + HYDRATE. Remove debris from pores with painless suction.

    3. FUSE + PROTECT. With antioxidants to maximize your glow.

It is recommended for all skin types and skin concerns.

What are the benefits of a HydraFacial? How effective is HydraFacial?

There are numerous benefits of a HydraFacial. This procedure helps the skin become even, firm, and bright. It includes deep cleansing, peel exfoliation, extractions, and hydration. It effectively targets dark spots, acne, wrinkles and lines, dull skin, rosacea and more. A HydraFacial is an effective and non-irritating treatment.

Does a HydraFacial hurt? Can you wear makeup after HydraFacial?

A HydraFacial does not hurt. There is no downtime or irritation with this treatment. Therefore, makeup can be put on right after the procedure. Many describe it as feeling a cold paintbrush on your face or a cat’s tongue touching your face.

How long do the effects of a HydraFacial last? How often should you get a HydraFacial?

Immediately after the HydraFacial, your skin will look rejuvenated. The effects of a HydraFacial last a week to two weeks, but can last longer. Continued sessions and proper home care can produce longer-term benefits. It is recommended to have regular once a month HydraFacials to maintain skin health.

What should you do before a HydraFacial?

If you use any type of Tretinoin, Benzoyl Peroxide, Salicylic Acid, Alpha-Hydroxy acids or Glycolic acids, you should stop this two to three nights before the treatment. Also, refrain from waxing or plucking 48 hours before treatment. Avoid too much direct sun exposure and artificial tannings for three days before the procedure.

Peels

  • What is a PCA peel?

A PCA peel is a brand of chemical peel manufactured by PCA Skin. The company offers a wide variety of professional chemical peels as well as everyday products to:

    • rejuvenate your skin

    • correct the effects of the sun

    • reduce scaring from acne or trauma

    • manage discoloration and wrinkles from aging

The company has manufactured products since 1990 and offers a certification program for professionals seeking to perform PCA peels.

Most PCA peels are superficial peels

Many PCA peels are known as superficial peels. This means they target the top layers of your skin, with little recovery time. There are different formulas for a variety of skin types.

Several of the PCA Skin peels use a modified version of the Jessner peel. The PCA peels contain ingredients like lactic acid and salicylic acid. Both are deemed to be effective for treating the skin, according to a 2016 research review.

Some PCA peels target deeper layers of the skin

Some PCA peels treat deeper layers of your skin. These are known as blended peels.

Blended peels contain an ingredient common to medium-depth peels called trichloroacetic acid (TCA). Blended peels lower the toxicity of each ingredient by combining them together.

Who’s an ideal candidate for a PCA peel?

Superficial PCA peels may appeal to those who are curious about chemical peels but wary of the recovery period and side effects. PCA peels work for a variety of people because of the many product options available.

If you want to correct more serious skin irregularities, you may want to consider a heavier peel. These irregularities may include conditions related to your skin’s:

    • texture

    • pigmentation

    • scarring

Before undergoing treatment, discuss chemical peels with your doctor if you’re pregnant or nursing or have a serious underlying health condition.

How many peels do you need before you begin to see results?

Superficial peels will have some immediate results, while others may require a series of treatments.

Either way, the results aren’t permanent. You may seek monthly PCA peels or use other PCA skin care products to maintain your results.

    What’s the PCA procedure like?

Here’s what to expect before, during, and after a PCA skin peel procedure.

    Before your peel

Before your skin peel, you’ll discuss your needs with a doctor or skin specialist trained in PCA Skin products. This could be a few weeks before the treatment or closer to the time of your peel.

You may need to apply some products to your skin for 1 or 2 weeks before your treatment for optimal results.

    Day of peel

On the day of your procedure, your doctor or skin care professional will first clean your skin. Then they’ll evenly apply the chemical solution.

Superficial PCA skin peels are applied in layers and left on your skin. They’re not timed and removed like deeper chemical peels. The strength of a superficial PCA peel is controlled by the number of layers applied.

The specialist will apply a calming topical lotion with broad-spectrum SPF protection on top of your final layer before sending you home.

    After your peel

Your doctor or skin specialist will give you instructions on how to care for your skin immediately after the procedure, such as how soon you may wash your face after the chemical peel and what products to apply. Be sure to follow these instructions.

What’s the best way to take care of your skin post PCA peel?

Superficial chemical peels from PCA Skin may require very little following the procedure. Your skin specialist may even allow you to apply makeup 15 minutes after the procedure to cover up skin flaking or redness.

Within the first 2 days of your procedure, you should avoid:

    • overheating

    • hot showers, baths, and other hot steam

    • hair dryers near the treated area

    • swimming

    • activities that result in a lot of sweating

    • exfoliating the treated skin

    • icing or heating the treated area

You should avoid direct sun exposure in the 1 or 2 weeks following the peel. Wear sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or more, and don’t use a tanning bed within 2 weeks.

Delay other skin treatments near the affected area for 5 or more days.

You should also use any products following the procedure as recommended by your skin specialist. They’ll determine the most effective combination of products for your skin type. This may include a gentle skin cleanser and a noncomedogenic moisturizer and sunscreen.

Discuss medications you take with your skin specialist to ensure your safety and reduce the chance of a reaction following your procedure.

Are there any potential side effects of a PCA peel?

Most PCA peels target only the first layer of skin. That’s why the recovery time is much shorter than for a medium or deep peel and why the procedure causes very few side effects.

    Superficial PCA peels

Side effects from a superficial peel will affect the treated skin and typically include:

    • shedding or flaking

    • redness

    • tightness

    • dryness

    Medium-depth PCA peels

Medium-depth peels can cause more serious side effects, including:

    • blisters

    • cold sores (a herpes simplex breakout)

    • acne

    • skin spots

You can lessen your risk of developing these side effects by using a credentialed skin professional for your PCA peel.

Laser Skin Treatments

  • How do laser treatments for fine lines and wrinkles work?

The building blocks of smooth, youthful skin are elastin and collagen—with laser skin revitalization, pulses of light penetrate the skin’s sub-layers, treating its aging support structure. The body’s natural healing process then rebuilds the tissue, with even texture and fewer wrinkles.

Do laser treatments for fine lines and wrinkles hurt?

Your treatment provider may offer ways to make this a comfortable experience. Since everyone is different, and this depends on the level of treatment needed, it is best to discuss all of your option with your laser treatment provider.

How many treatments will I need?

Depending on your individual case and the laser used, some people are satisfied after only one treatment session. Others may need additional sessions.

Laser Treatment for Veins

  • The laser treats vascular anomalies by emitting a wavelength that is preferentially absorbed by hemoglobin (the red portion of blood) in the targeted vessels. The laser causes the vein to collapse and eventually to be absorbed by the body. The laser energy is coupled with a cooling mechanism to protect the skin. If you are planning on having a laser vein treatment, or have had it done recently, please see our patient instructions page.

    Who can be treated?

Patients of all Fitzpatrick skin types (from fair to dark) can be treated. See our “Skin Typing Questionnaire” to determine your skin type.

What type of veins can be treated?

Small facial veins (telangiectasias) and red spots (cherry hemangiomas) can be treated. Spider veins can also be treated with excellent results. However, we advise that if you have large, bulging varicose veins, that you seek consultation from a vascular surgeon.

How many treatments will I need?

Some patients find that one or two treatments are sufficient. However, the number of treatments needed depends on the size and darkness of the vessels. Some patients will require three to four treatments.

    Do the treatments hurt?

Most patients describe a stinging sensation, “like a hot rubber band”. There will be more discomfort with larger and darker vessels, due to the increased amount of light energy being absorbed.

    Immediate expected response:

    • Temporary darkening/redness, and swelling of veins (less than 24 hours)

    • Some patients may experience bruising or blistering of the skin (less than 24 hours)

    • Red/purple discoloration of veins resolves within two weeks

    • Gradual fading over several weeks to months

Are there any restrictions on activity after treatment?

You can resume most normal activities immediately after your treatment. However, we recommend that you avoid vigorous activity, such as strenuous exercise, for the first 24 hours after treatment. As allows, the use of sunscreen is recommended on any treated areas which may be exposed to the sun.

Laser Treatment for Benign Pigmented Lesions

  • The laser works by targeting melanocytes. No cooling is used, as this would defeat the purpose of targeting the epidermal melanocytic lesion. If you are planning on having a laser benign pigmented lesion treatment, or have had it done recently, please see our patient instructions page.

How many treatments will I need?

Some patients find that one or two treatments are sufficient. However, the number of treatments needed depends on the size and darkness of the lesion. Some patients will require three to four treatments.

    Do the treatments hurt?

Most patients describe a stinging sensation, “like a hot rubber band”. There will be more discomfort with larger and darker lesions, due to the increased amount of light energy being absorbed.

    What is the expected response?

    • Immediate darkening of the lesion

    • Temporary redness and swelling around the lesion

    • Formation of gray-brown scale that resolves within one to two weeks

    • Gradual fading over several weeks

Microneedling for Anti-Aging and Skin Texture Improvement

  • Microneedling is a minimally invasive skin-rejuvenation procedure that uses a MicroPen which contains fine needles. The needles are used to create hundreds of superficial micro-channels every few seconds. This stimulates the skin’s natural ability to heal itself. The new collagen and elastin produce softer, firmer skin, resulting in a younger looking skin with a healthy glow. Microneedling can also improve the appearance of hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone, acne scars, traumatic scars, and stretch marks.

What is SkinPen® and how does it work?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation procedure that helps minimize the signs of aging, improve the appearance of acne scars and rejuvenate aging skin. The SkinPen® microneedling device causes controlled micro-injuries that stimulate the body’s natural wound healing process. The micro-injuries trigger the release of cytokines and growth factors that lead to remodeling and production of new collagen and elastin.

What is the treatment experience like?

The procedure is performed in the office and usually lasts around 30 minutes. Prior to the procedure, topical anesthetic will be used to minimize discomfort during treatment. The SkinPen® is applied to treatment area and moved around on the skin in a methodical fashion. The depth of treatment is adjustable, so it is safe to use on the entire face, as well as neck and even hands. Even delicate area around the eyes and around the mouth can be treated with minimal discomfort. The procedure is not painless, but most patients rate the pain 2 out of 10!

    What happens after?

SkinPen® is unique in that it provides dramatic results with minimal downtime. Immediately after treatment, you will be red and may feel that the treated skin is tight. The inflammatory response the SkinPen® sets in motion feels like a sunburn, but the process in the skin is very different. The next day, you’ll probably be pink and may still feel a bit irritated, but you can put on makeup and go about your normal activities.

When will I see results and how long do they last?

Following the treatment, you may see immediate smoothing in the first week. Additionally, you will continue to see improvement up to three to six months after your treatment as collagen continues to remodel. The best results are seen when three treatments are performed one month apart, however some people will benefit by having more than three treatments.

    Am I a candidate for SkinPen®?

SkinPen® is safe for patients of all ages and skin types. If you are interested in improving fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars or just want to rejuvenate tired-looking skin or achieve overall skin tightening – SkinPen® is the right treatment for you!

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) for Skin Texture Improvement

  • What is PRP?

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is an injectable treatment by which a person’s own blood is used. Platelets are vital in the process of tissue healing, and the growth of new cells. PRP thereby promotes collagen production, regenerates the skin tissue, and essentially re-energizes your cells into rejuvenating themselves. The release of growth factors amphiphiles the healing process. PRP softens fine lines and wrinkles, tightens the skin, and improves skin tone and texture.

    How is PRP administered?

The treatment of PRP involves a fraction of blood, collected or ‘drawn up’ from the individual patient into a syringe. The collected blood is then spun down in a special centrifuge to separate its components. The platelet rich plasma is then reinjected, and/or micro-needled back into the skin.

How long does a PRP treatment take?

Typically, a PRP treatment takes between an hour or two to complete. This depends on if the PRP is administered through injections only, and/or micro-needled into the skin. This timeframe includes an additional 30 minutes for the blood to be drawn and spun in the centrifuge, and topical numbing to be applied.

    Do PRP injections hurt?

Some mild discomfort may be felt while the PRP is being reinjected. The sensation typically felt is a burning or tingling sensation. This sensation only lasts a few minutes after the PRP injected. We ensure our patients are comfortable throughout the entire PRP treatment and apply topical numbing cream and ice to aid any discomfort.

When will I begin to see results from a PRP treatment?

Generally, patients notice tightening and a more even tone to their skin in a week or two after PRP injections. These results continue to build for up to 6 months after treatment.

How long do results from PRP injections last?

Results from PRP injections can be seen for many years after treatment; However, these results vary due to the individual’s natural variation in quality of Platelet Rich Plasma, as well as their lifestyle. While we cannot stop the aging process, we can slow it down. Results from PRP injections can be extended with proper at home skincare maintenance.

What areas can I treat with PRP injections?

Technically, PRP can used to treat area of the body. For cosmetic purposes, PRP is most popularly used to treat the face and neck.

Is there any downtime associated with PRP?

There is no downtime associated PRP injections; However, after your treatment, your skin may be red. This is normal and to be expected. Redness usually lasts from one to 24 hours. You may also have a little swelling in some areas. Due to this, some patients like to be treated towards the end of the week, so they have the weekend to recover. Healing time varies from patient to patient. Healing may take longer if PRP injections are paired with micro-needling.

How many PRP treatments will I need?

Results can be seen after one treatment, but the exact amount of treatments needed varies from patient to patient. Generally, 2‐3 treatments are advised, but more may be indicated for some individuals.

Are there any side effects or possible risks to PRP injections?

PRP used for aesthetic procedures are safe for most individuals. There are very few contraindications with PRP injections. The most common side effects associated with PRP injections are mild to moderate swelling and redness.

Who is NOT a candidate for PRP injections?

During your consultation, and assessment will be made to ensure you are the right candidate for PRP injections. Patients with certain health conditions are not a candidate for PRP injections. Patients who are pregnant are not candidates for PRP injections.

Microdermabrasion

  • Microdermabrasion offers many benefits. It gently removes the upper layer of dead skin cells, leaving skin soft and smooth. Removal of the dead skin brings the healthy under layer of skin to the surface, encouraging healthy cell rejuvenation.

Microdermabrasion may be done on many different areas of the body as well as the face. For best results, a series of 6 treatments scheduled 7 to 14 days apart is recommended.

What Skin Concerns Does This Treatment Help With?

Overall, this treatment method rejuvenates dull and tired skin. You may notice that your skin isn’t as elastic as it used to be as you slowly get older, but there are multiple reasons why your skin may feel dull or look uneven. Microdermabrasion is specifically developed to target:

    • Fine lines

    • Age spots

    • Acne scars

    • Stretch marks

    • Dull complexions

    • Uneven skin texture

    • Enlarged pores

When you’re considering scheduling an appointment for this treatment, our doctor will help you determine if this is absolutely the right treatment for you before booking.

How Does This Treatment Help Acne and Acne Scars?

Dealing with acne can be frustrating, and after the acne is gone, the last thing you want to deal with is acne scarring. This treatment option can be helpful when it comes to clearing up your skin. Since this treatment method involves exfoliating dead skin off of your face and suctioning the dirt and skin cells away, this process can be especially useful for deep cleaning your pores.

By combining exfoliation with suction, this process will remove the buildup of excess skin cells and dirt from your pores. It also will reveal clean, fresh skin underneath that’s free of clogged pores. This treatment method triggers your skin’s healing process and removes dirt from your skin faster than your body can do on its own. By removing excess dead skin cells and rejuvenating your skin, you can experience a reduction in your acne as well as your acne scars.

How Long Do I Have to Wait Between Treatments?

Like most treatments and procedures, the frequency and results can vary from person to person. However, since microdermabrasion is a mild treatment that simply removes the exterior layer of your skin by using a spray and small suction, these treatments can be performed every three to four weeks.

Additionally, your doctor will determine the right cadence for you depending on your skin type, desired results, and the results after your first treatment. Depending on a variety of factors, your doctor could recommend monthly sessions until you achieve the results you’re looking for. This treatment method provides immediate rejuvenation after just one treatment, so you may not need additional treatments depending on the current state of your skin.

    Does This Treatment Hurt?

Although combining exfoliating with suction may sound like it would be slightly painful, this treatment method doesn’t hurt at all! The exfoliating portion is similar to the feel of fine sandpaper. By coupling this exfoliation method with mild suction, we can remove the product and dead skin cells from your face immediately as they fall away from your refreshed layer of skin underneath.

Your technician will be constantly moving the device around different areas of your face and won’t be leaving the suction in one place for any period of time. That means you won’t have to worry about any potential bruises. The only side effect that you may notice right after your treatment is slight redness, which is completely normal. You shouldn’t experience any discomfort during your session but rather feel as if your face is being polished to reveal your best skin.

What Can I Expect During Treatment?

Since this treatment method is non-invasive, it doesn’t take very long to complete. Depending on your skin type, your doctor may recommend a short 15 minutes. Treatment sessions can last up to 30 minutes in total. Your technician will start by cleansing your face to prep the skin for the treatment.

Once the treatment is complete, your technician will cleanse your face again to remove any remaining skin cells and product that was used during the session. They’ll also apply moisturizer to hydrate your skin and apply sunscreen to protect the new layer of skin that was just revealed. You can combine this treatment with a facial or starter peel to amplify your results.

What Can I Expect After Treatment?

Like most facials and superficial skincare treatments, microdermabrasion has little to no downtime. However, you’ll want to put on SPF after the treatment before going outside to protect your new layer of skin. Since this treatment removes the exterior layer of your skin, your face could be more sensitive to the sun for a few weeks following your appointment.

On top of protecting your skin with sunscreen, you can expect to see some redness after your treatment session. This is completely normal and will fade over the next few hours and days. Once the redness has subsided, you’ll see beautiful results and smooth, even skin tone. If one session doesn’t provide you with the immediate results you’re looking for, your doctor can recommend follow-up treatments that will help you continue to work towards your goals.

How Do I Take Care of My Skin After My Treatment?

Your technician will go over what you should and shouldn’t do after your treatment in detail before you leave the office, but there are a few general guidelines that are safe to follow. After your treatment, it’s recommended that you only cleanse and moisturize your face. Since the skin will be sensitive, you shouldn’t use any harsh toners or exfoliators while your skin heals.

It’s also recommended that you avoid direct contact with the sun for at least three days after your treatment. It will be easier to sunburn your new skin while it’s healing, and although sunscreen will protect it, you shouldn’t sunbathe until your skin has time to recover.

You should avoid picking or scrubbing your skin in any way. This can inadvertently harm your new skin and compromise your results. If you have any specific questions regarding what to do after your treatment, just call us!

How Can I Maximize My Results?

After receiving this treatment, there are a few things you can do at home to make your results last as long as possible. Always wear sunscreen after receiving a facial treatment. Sunscreen will protect your skin and can prevent a wide variety of issues including sun damage, fine lines, and dark spots.

To help your skin heal and keep your rejuvenated face glowing, we recommend applying a moisturizer after you cleanse your face. By keeping your skin hydrated, you can prevent any dry spots that could become a problem. If you experience any mild itching sensation, please avoid scratching your face. The new skin that was revealed during your treatment is sensitive.

Endymed

  • What is radio frequency and how does it work?

Radio frequency (RF) is an advanced technology that safely heats the collagen in the skin. If sufficient energy is delivered, the collagen will contract, providing an immediate change in the skin appearance. The treatment also triggers a second process of new collagen production, leading to a significant change in skin appearance. The result of collagen remodeling is tighter, younger looking skin.

RF has two major intrinsic advantages over other technologies:

    1) it penetrates deeper in the skin.

    2) it is not affected by skin colour.

What is the unique advantage of Endymed 3deep RF technology?

3deep RF represents the newest variation of RF technology, an evolution of RF based professional skin tightening, body contouring and fractional skin resuRFacing systems. 3deep technology, comprised of multiple electrodes, offers, for the first time, a safe, energy based system that combines delivery of controlled heat deep into the skin, while preserving the overlying epidermis.

What areas of the body can be treated with 3deep RF?

The 3deep technology is efficient for most body areas. Through our research, we have found that different body areas require different energy parameters. We have different applications which are customized for various body areas.

What should i expect during treatment?

During the procedure, the deep skin layers are gradually heated, while the skin surface remains around 40*c (hot shower temperature). Your skin temperature will be constantly monitored. Depending on the size of the treatment area, treatment make take between 30-45 minutes. The treatment is relaxing, pain free and carries no side effects.

    What is the recovery time?

Following treatment, you may immediately resume all routine all activities. You may notice slight redness around the treatment area, which usually disappears in a couple of hours.

How many treatments are required to see results?

According to your treatment program, we will offer a series of treatments, up to six, in intervals of one to two weeks. You should start to see improvement in your skin following the second treatment and additional improvement will gradually appear as the treatment course progresses. As new healthier collagen is formed, tighter, more natural looking and firmer skin will be produced. The gradual improvement in your skin will continue even after completion of the series.

How long does the effect last?

The improvement in skin quality should be long lasting. However, maintaining the results of, for example, body contouring or body tightening treatments, is also subject to a person’s calorie intake, exercise and lifestyle. So, a balanced diet, proper exercise program and healthy lifestyle will help to maintain the desired treatment effects.

Emsculpt NEO

  • What is EMSCULPT NEO?

EMSCULPT NEO® is a revolutionary technology that builds muscle and reduces fat. It’s an innovative way to contour your body by stimulating muscle contractions with no surgery or downtime. EMSCULPT NEO is FDA-cleared to safely and effectively build muscle, improve muscle tone and increase strength. Treatment areas currently include the abdomen and buttocks.1

Who Can Benefit from EMSCULPT NEO?

EMSCULPT NEO is the ideal treatment for anyone looking to build muscle and reduce fat to get defined abs or a non-invasive booty lift. If you are frustrated by fad exercises or long hours in the gym and feel like you could use some help achieving your desired results, EMSCULPT NEO is the perfect solution for you. Our EMSCULPT NEO Specialists will work with you on the best treatment plan tailored to your individual needs. Treatment plans are customized to achieve the results you desire.

What Does EMSCULPT NEO Treatment FEEL like?

The EMSCULPT NEO procedure feels like an intensive workout of muscles in the target area being treated. The variable level is increased by the EMSCULPT NEO Specialist during the course of the treatment based on your feedback. The level is gradually increased over the series of treatments. You can lay down, relax, watch TV and talk during the treatment. Use of portable electronic devices is not recommended since proximity to the EMSCULPT NEO applicator may cause damage to delicate electronics.

    What’s New with EMSCULPT NEO?

Emsculpt NEO builds off its EMSCULPT predecessor. The original EMSCULPT used High Intensity Focused Electro Magnetic (HIFEM) energy. EMSCULPT NEO adds Radio Frequency (RF) treatment. This is a revolutionary innovation for the body sculpting industry. EMSCULPT NEO is the only device to combine HIFEM and RF energy into a single treatment. Adding RF energy to each treatment allows for up to 30% decrease in fat in the treated area.

    How Does EMSCULPT NEO Work?

EMSCULPT NEO uses sophisticated technology to simultaneously emit HIFEM energy with RF energy with a single applicator. These combined energies provide a synergistic effect, producing better results in a single treatment than would be individually produced through separate treatments.

The addition of RF to the EMSCULPT treatment optimizes fat reduction. As with the original treatment, EMSCULPT NEO delivers unprecedented muscle development using HIFEM energy. The energy passes safely through the skin to stimulate supramaximal contractions in the underlying muscle. The muscle contractions are far more powerful than a person can induce on their own through exercise. More than 20,000 contractions are induced through each treatment. Just as with exercise, the contractions press the body to adapt by strengthening existing muscle fibers and creating new muscle cells.

Before inducing the contractions, the RF energy heats underlying tissue. This warms the muscle up in preparation for the contractions. The RF technology adds a synergistic effect to the muscle building while also triggering lipolysis: the death of fat cells. Thermal energy via RF disrupts the fat cells. The lymphatic system collects the destroyed fat cells and processes them out of the body as waste. The fat cells cannot grow back after they are removed from the body. The fat cells are gone for good, producing long-lasting results.

How Fast Will I See Results?

Tangible results are felt right after the treatment, similar to an intensive workout of the target area muscles. Positive visible results for muscle toning are usually seen two to four weeks after the last session in the series of treatments. Positive visible results of fat reduction are usually seen 8-12 weeks after treatment. The underlying muscles require time to adapt and strengthen. Fat cells that are destroyed through apoptosis during the series of treatments are gradually and naturally eliminated by the body. Visible results continue to improve for weeks to months after the treatment series.

How Many EMSCULPT NEO Treatments are Needed to See Results?

The number of treatments required is dependent on your desired results and where you are starting in terms of muscle tone and undesirable fat. One series of EMSCULPT NEO treatment will increase muscle up to 25% and reduce fat by up to 30% in the treated area. Many people are pleased with the results of just one series of EMSCULPT NEO treatment. Some people feel that they need more than one series of treatment to achieve their desired results. During your free consultation, one of our EMSCULPT NEO specialists will provide answers regarding how many treatments you may need to achieve your goals in the treated area. We stand behind our work with our Real Results Promise™.

How Long Does the EMSCULPT NEO Treatment Take?

Prior to your treatment, you will come into New Radiance Cosmetic Centers for a free consultation for your abdomen with one of our EMSCULPT NEO Specialists. Depending on what questions you may have, your consultation will take between 15 and 30 minutes.

The EMSCULPT NEO treatment will take about 30 minutes. Some people may elect to have additional treatments performed. Since EMSCULPT NEO is non-surgical and non-invasive, there is no downtime. You could schedule a treatment for your lunch break and return to work immediately after. Normal physical activities can be resumed immediately after your EMSCULPT NEO.

Is Any Pre/Post Treatment Preparation Required?

No. EMSCULPT NEO is non-invasive and requires no pre or post treatment preparation.

Can EMSCULPT NEO Tighten Loose Skin?

EMSCULPT NEO is highly effective for building muscle and reducing fat – up to 25% muscle mass increase and 30% fat reduction per series of treatments – on the abdomen. EMSCULPT NEO may result in some skin tightening in the treated area. However, EMSCULPT NEO is not a skin tightening treatment. To get you the results you desire, New Radiance Cosmetic Centers includes a free Exilis Ultra treatment ($400 value) to tighten loose skin after your EMSCULPT NEO treatments.

Is There Any Pain or Discomfort?

While pain and discomfort are relative and experiences will vary, EMSCULPT NEO involves minimal discomfort, if any. During the procedure, you will feel muscles contract with the treatment level gradually increased by the EMSCULPT NEO Specialist. After treatment, you will feel like your muscles have been worked. Any such feelings will be short-lived.

Can I Undergo an EMSCULPT NEO Treatment While Pregnant?

EMSCULPT NEO is FDA-cleared and has helped many people build muscle and reduce excess fat. However, the procedure is not recommended for everyone. Prior to or after a pregnancy, EMSCULPT NEO has no negative impact on women. However, pregnant women are advised not to undergo a EMSCULPT NEO treatment on any part of their body.

Are There Other Contraindicated Medical Conditions for EMSCULPT NEO?

EMSCULPT NEO treatment is not recommended in some circumstances due to the electromagnetic effects of the treatment. EMSCULPT NEO isn’t an appropriate choice if you:

    • Have implanted metal, a pacemaker or cardiac defibrillator near the treatment site.

    • Have cardiac issues or a history of seizures.

    • Have a hernia or have had recent surgery near the treatment site.

An EMSCULPT NEO Specialist will evaluate these considerations during your free consultation.

Infusion Therapy

  • What is nutrient OR vitamin IV therapy?

If you're like most people, you probably don't consume your daily dose of vitamins and minerals, let alone experience their valuable benefits. Nutrient IV Therapy is a safe and effective way to receive natural vitamins, minerals, and amino acids direct to the bloodstream. The 30 to 45-minute session enhances your energy, improves your overall mood, and helps prevent future health conditions caused by stress, malnutrition, and dehydration.

Are there any side effects during the IV process?

No major side effects are usually seen; however, people do experience some cooling of the arm and a mineral taste in the mouth. Do not worry, as this is all normal.

How long does a session take?

Our nutrient IV’s take approximately 30-45 minutes for the drip to be fully administered.

What are nutrient IV’s made of?

Nutrient IVs are similar to IV’s you would find at your local hospital. They all consist of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, which are found in the body naturally. Adding these nutrients gives the body more of what your organs need to function properly.

How frequently should I do IV Therapy?

None of our IV’s contain toxins that are found in medicine or pharmaceuticals, so no one experiences an overdose of any kind. If you are healthy, theoretically it is safe for daily use.

Realistically, most people do not put such high demands on their bodies where they would need daily nutrient IV Therapy. Our most frequent dosage is a bi-weekly program. But you should tailor your IV Therapy to your lifestyle.

How soon should I feel the effects?

Depending on your nutritional and hydration status you may see dramatic effects after the first IV. People who get IV’s regularly will feel less dramatic effects as their body starts to obtain optimal hydration and nutritional balance.

    Is this process painful?

Everyone’s pain tolerance is different. While some people find needles to be relatively painless, others will find it a bit painful. For these patients, we have ways of making the process more comfortable. However, this procedure is in no way excruciating. We use a smaller needle than what is used in children's hospitals.

Who should or shouldn't do this?

If you retain fluids, have kidney problems, or suffer from certain health conditions, you should not engage in nutrient IV Therapy.

We always recommend that you check with your primary care physician if you’re unsure. However, anyone with a healthy history can safely obtain its benefits.

Is there any potential reaction to receiving a nutrient IV while on other medications?

Negative reactions are slim to none, since this procedure is proven to be advantageous and safe. Either way, everyone is monitored and if some discomfort begins, we will simply monitor you over time and stop if necessary.

Most people respond favorably to the therapy, feeling energized and alert from the beginning.

    Is it an expensive treatment?

IV Therapy is a premium service that improves your body’s performance enormously. It is an investment, so if you compare the price against the benefits you receive from it, you’ll find it’s worth it.

Users agree that preventative medicine such as nutrient IV Therapy strengthens their immune system, helping them avoid expensive doctor visits and prescription medication that come from something like a severe cold or allergy.

What should I do after the treatment is done?

After your session, you can go about your day as you would normally. There are no restrictions. We recommend that you exercise, meditate, eat healthy meals, stay hydrated, and get enough rest daily.

Laser Hair Removal

  • The laser works by penetrating the hair follicle with light energy, destroying it at its root while preserving the surrounding skin. If you are planning on having a laser hair removal treatment, or have had it done recently, please see our patient instructions page.

    Contraindications/Precautions:

    • Accutane: Wait 6 months after the completion of accutane therapy

    • Tattoos: Tattooed skin, including decorative, permanent makeup, and radiation port tattoos cannot be treated

    • History of photosensitivity

    • Pregnancy

    • Seizure disorders: Patients with a history of light-triggered seizures cannot be treated

    • Medications: There are certain medications that induce photosensitivity or bruising. Please consult your physician and review your medication list with him/her.

    • HSV 1 & 2/active skin infections: If you have an active cold sore or open wound, you should not be treated. If you have a known history of HSV 1&2 lesions, you should be pre-treated with valtrex (or a similar antiviral medication) prior to treatment. Contact your physician for a prescription.

How many treatments does it take to clear an area?

On average, it takes 4 to 6 treatments, but some people may require more treatments.

Should I expect to be hair free in the treated area after the series of treatments?

No, most patients experience a 80 to 90% reduction in the amount of hair in the given area after the series of treatments.

Why does the hair appear to still be there, and will look like it is growing for 1 to 3 weeks post treatment?

The laser does not actually remove the hair at the time of the treatment. The hair falls out or “sheds” 1 to 3 weeks after treatment.

Why does the laser not work well on blonde, grey, or red hair?

The laser energy interacts with the pigment in the hair root. These colors do not have much or any pigment in them.

Why must the area to be treated be shaved just prior to treatment?

Surface hair, if present, will be singed. This increases the risk of a burn, as well as absorbs some of the laser energy that is supposed to target the hair root.

    Does the laser treatment hurt?

There is a stinging sensation. However, we use a cooling spray which helps to decrease this sensation. Patients who have waxed or used electrolysis in the past report that the laser treatment is less painful.

What are the possible side effects of laser hair removal?

Side effects include: blistering, hyper/hypo-pigmentation, or scarring.

How long does each treatment take?

Depending on the area treated, the treatment may take a few minutes up to an hour. The 18 mm head allows for more efficient treatment of large areas, such as the back or legs.

What will the treated area look like immediately afterwards?

The skin in the treated area will have some redness and the hair follicles will look like goose bumps for 1 to 2 hours.

What precautions should I take throughout the process?

Sun exposure, including artificial tanning MUST be avoided for two weeks before and after treatment.

Melanin formation in the skin as a response to ultraviolet light decreases the effectiveness of the treatment and increases the likelihood of blistering.

Do not use any form of bleach or epilation (waxing, plucking, electrolysis, or threading) for 6 weeks prior to treatment.

The laser targets the hair root (with it’s pigment). If the patient has bleached or removed the hair, then there is nothing for the laser to target.

PRP Injections for Hair Restoration

  • PRP treatment is used to restore hair and achieve natural-looking results. A fine needle is used to inject your own platelet-rich plasma (PRP) into the scalp.

PRP hair restoration is suitable for both men and women. This is an alternative, state-of-the-art, non-surgical, natural medical procedure used for hair loss or thinning. This is an injectable treatment that uses the patient's blood.

PRP contains active growth factors that stimulate hair growth and regrowth. The end result is fuller, healthier hair that can help restore self-confidence.

What is it and how does it work?

The doctor takes a small sample of blood. This sample is then treated with a centrifuge to separate the repair cells or platelets from the other types of blood components such as red blood cells. PRP has a highly concentrated number of platelets in the plasma that release essential growth proteins. This mixture is injected into the scalp with a small thin needle.

What are PRP treatments for hair growth and how do they work?

PRP or platelet-rich plasma for hair regrowth is an autologous, non-surgical in-office or clinic treatment (obtained from the patient's blood) that can be performed in about 30 minutes. Once the problem area has been identified, assessed and measured, medical images are taken in the photo suite.

Special sterile techniques and equipment are used to separate and concentrate platelets and plasma from a small sample of peripheral blood. PRP contains growth factors and cytokines that stimulate and improve hair follicle function. Small injections of PRP deliver the strong growth factors from platelets into the skin of weak follicles.

Who is the ideal candidate for PRP treatment for hair loss?

In PRP treatments, there are two types of patients with hair loss: chronic hair loss (male and female pattern baldness) and acute hair loss (e.g. alopecia). In our experience, patients with areas of "low-grade" hair growth on the scalp where functioning hair follicles can still be seen are the patients who seem to have the most success with hair regrowth treatments. Those with "shiny" bald patches and long-standing baldness are NOT the best candidates.

When can you expect PRP results and how long will they last?

It can take up to six to twelve months for PRP results to be "visually" evaluated in the mirror, although most clients will notice results after three months.

After the treatment period, the average patient with hereditary hair loss can expect to need a PRP treatment every 6 to 12 months to maintain their results.

What are the risks and benefits of PRP treatment?

PRP is a non-surgical, comfortable in-office/clinic procedure that takes about 30 minutes from start to finish. Most of the time is spent in the preparation phase. Patients usually notice a short period of inflammation where their scalp remains slightly pink and they feel pressure or swelling for a few hours. Improvements in hair growth can generally be measured in about three months, but it may take six to twelve months before the difference is visually 'seen' in the mirror.

The main risk of PRP is that your doctor may use careless or outdated preparation and application equipment or techniques that result in poor or less than optimal outcomes. Patients with certain blood disorders or taking certain medications are not candidates for PRP treatments. PRP is immunologically neutral and carries a low risk of allergies, hypersensitivity or reactions to foreign bodies.

How long do the benefits of PRP treatments last?

According to published reports, PRP improves hair calibre and growth for about four to six weeks, which is repeated once a month for three months. However, on average, most patients require their repeated PRP treatment after 6 to 12 months to maintain the effects of hair growth.
